In today’s fast-paced world, needs of consumers are growing and organisations are pushing IT teams to find softwares that meet the growing needs.
Users would like the mundane (copy and paste data from one tool to another, send an email a particular time, etc.) rule-based tasks to be automated, so they focus on advanced tasks and spend more time with Customers and improve business outcomes.
RPA (Robotic Process Automation) to the rescue
These tools help IT teams automate routine and complex, mission-critical processes within software applications. From the name “bots”, you could see that they are used to automate processes. The software also enables to develop, run and monitor them.
Number of tools
There are a number of tools (BluePrism, UIPath, Automation Anywhere, Microsoft Power Platform) available in the market doing fundamentally the same thing. However while using them, strengths and weaknesses are noticeable.
How to go about selection?
While there are a number of RPA tools available in the market, limiting to the highest rated vendors that are proven at an enterprise scale is always a safe bet. These are the companies with ever evolving features with robust R&D teams to provide a powerful platform.
One of the ways to go about product evaluation is
- List down the asks, priority, and medium-to-long term vision
- Compare market leading products
- Plan the execution strategy — availability of workforce, product support, versatility of the tool
- Costs (licensing, developers, infrastructure, etc.)
